Hi Friends!

This past weekend involved a lot of rain and let me tell you, since I shipped these limited-edition Hunter boots all the way from Europe, I am ecstatic when I see rain in the forecast! Hunter has amazing styles and colors, however when I discovered this unique 2-in-1 pair while traveling in Asia, I knew I had to have my own! Rain turns to sunshine immediately when I style this charming English-influenced pair of boots for a rain outfit.

Lace Simplicity

I am very fond of accessorizing my outfits, however I love pieces that have the boldness to stand on their own, such as this charming dress discovered at 27 Boutique. Wearing it with a pair of heels definitely puts me into my happy space with it’s yellow hues, feminine lace and the flowy chiffon top. I can’t wait to further experiment with this dress and it’s potential to be styled in many ways, given the adorable two-piece style in the design.

Tip: lately I have been tying my trench belt into a bow-tie at the back creating a “pinned in” waist-line, pairing my trench over top of my outfit to give a fun trenched-look.

Without a doubt, one of my highlights this weekend was the RoyalTea Baby Shower at the Fairmont Palliser, in honour of the arrival of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s baby. Inspiration of The Great Gatsby

Have you viewed The Great Gatsby film yet? Last weekend my hubby and I did a photoshoot for the FASHION Magazine Style Panel inspired by The Great Gatsby. This 1920′s era is absolutely breath-taking and certainly one of my favorites given all the sequins, bold jewelry, stunning headbands, scarves and bright prints. Global Wonders

One area that always tugs at the compassion in my heart is human injustice, particularly females enslaved or trapped in the sex trade. The Servants Anonymous Foundation is an incredible non-profit organization whose main objective is to assist women, youth and children who are sexually exploited or trafficked, by offering highly effective programs to these survivors. The Servants Anonymous Foundation’s programs can be found in Calgary, Vernon, Surrey, San Diego, New York, Vancouver, Nepal and their newest in Budapest. Their powerful programs help to break the cycle of damaged lives by addressing recovery from addictions, healing from past abuse, life skills training and a return to school program.

A lovely aspect of the Servants Anonymous Foundation is Global Wonders which is their fair trade initiative in the Nepal project whereby they train and empower young women to design a jewelry line and knitted goods, and these beautiful jewels are then exported and sold in Canada! The jewelry collection is absolutely stunning and stylish, be sure to check out their current collection here.

The playful accessories I am featuring were created and strung by hand by one of the many brave women in Nepal. I am forever grateful for the life-giving support and love that Servants Anonymous Foundation and Global Wonders bring to the dear women in need.

Hi Friends!

I raise my hat to you, my dear readers! Thank you so much for your support and for following Velvet & Vino since we began a year and a half ago. I appreciate your friendship and I believe that one of my most favorite things about blogging is getting to know my readers and meeting new friends along the way.

This outfit post is to celebrate life and also to share about my new favorite top embellished with fur. One of my secrets in wardrobe shopping is to look for pieces that accessorize themselves. I just love when a top is decorated so much so, that you don’t need to add a necklace accessory. This sweet top was found in an amazing boutique I discovered in Hong Kong a few weeks ago, called Bess.
